The best laid plans of mice and men....
Oh dear, my babes. Oh dear.
To play catch up, in late 2024, I split my achilles tendon and had a VERY long road to recovery. I didn't take on any more clients because I just couldn't walk and knew I couldn't quite operate yet in my then current capacity. Additionally, I was weighing out just pushing through and working despite my split tendon against the fact that my husband would be PCSing any day. Any military spouses reading this will be intimately familiar with the kind of fuckery of the military, and how you should never expect anything to happen until it happens and even then, you can still be disappointed. It just made sense that I take my time to heal and close up shop, figuratively and literally. I let my upcoming clients know we'd be moving, and I gave them the option to move their shoots up (spaced out), reschedule in my new location, or have me suggest a photographer in the STL area that would honor my price and take over their shoot. I was luckily able to space out a few of the shoots with clients who rescheduled, but sadly a few of my clients canceled their shoots because they needed further out dates and only wanted to work with me.
I was sad to cancel, but totally understood where my clients were coming from. I was actually kind of touched at their decision to cancel rather than work with someone else I helped them find. But that isn't the point.
The point is that I worked with my last rescheduled client in April of 2026 fully expecting to focus my energy on getting ready to sell my house and leave in June.
My friends, it is October and we found out at the beginning of our very recent two week National Park Trip that he is no longer moving in this army marketplace. So we are here until 2028, which means I'm getting back to taking on clients. I just applied to take part in my first expo since 2024 to hopefully get back to taking on clients. I have missed getting to know new people and making their visions come to life, finding new pleaces to shoot, it's been missing from my life big time.
So I'm working my way back, everyone! It's been super strange being in this limbo, but I'm excited to get back to it.
